The Government of Ghana will recover GH¢58 million spent on the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced.

Dr. Ato Forson made the announcement while presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament. He said the move forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen fiscal discipline and improve accountability in the management of public funds.

According to the Finance Minister, the government provided the funds to support Ghana’s participation in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup. He said the state will recover the amount as part of measures to ensure responsible use of taxpayer resources.
