Ghana international Derrick Luckassen has completed a move to Red Star Belgrade, signing a three-year contract with the Serbian champions after leaving Cypriot club Pafos FC.

Red Star Belgrade confirmed the transfer as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. Luckassen joins the Serbian giants as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Pafos.

The experienced defender brings years of top-flight football experience to his new club. He has featured in domestic leagues across Europe and represented several clubs during his professional career.

Luckassen’s arrival comes at an important time for Red Star Belgrade. The club will compete in domestic competitions while also preparing for another campaign in European football. Club officials believe his experience and defensive qualities will add depth to the squad.

The 31-year-old has also represented Ghana at the international level. His recent performances for the Black Stars have drawn attention from clubs seeking experienced defenders capable of performing on the biggest stages.

Red Star Belgrade has built a reputation as one of the most successful clubs in Southeast Europe. The club regularly competes for the Serbian league title and aims to make a strong impact in UEFA competitions each season.

Luckassen expressed his excitement about the move and the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his career. He said he looks forward to helping the club achieve its objectives in both domestic and European competitions.

Club officials welcomed the defender and described him as an important addition to the team’s plans for the new season. They expressed confidence that his leadership and experience would strengthen the squad.

Football analysts say the move offers Luckassen a fresh challenge at a club with a rich history and ambitious goals. They also believe regular playing time in Serbia could help him remain in contention for future Ghana national team selections.

The transfer reflects Red Star’s continued strategy of adding experienced players capable of contributing immediately. The club hopes its latest signings will help maintain success at home while improving its performances on the European stage.

Supporters will now look forward to seeing Luckassen make his debut as preparations continue for the start of the new campaign.
